Amazon Echo ( Alexa ) Playing Music On Its’ Own

Ok this isn’t a Linux related post … but this particular issue has plagued me for some time until I just identified the issue. Figured it was worth posting since it took some time to identify and correct the issue.

Every day at 6:10 PM our Amazon Echo would start playing music on a very low volume. Tried all kinds of things like resetting the device and re-registering. Eventually I did come across the solution.

• Open the Alexa application on your device
• Hit the ‘More’ button in the lower right corner
• Select the ‘Routines’ button

Once on this screen look for anything unusual. In my case I had a routine called ‘Evening Unwind’. You can click on the routine to view the details. To delete the route hit the 3 dots in the upper right corner and select ‘Delete Routine’.

Hope this helps at least one other person … I know this issue can be annoying.
